Through this art exhibition, we as artists hope to draw attention to the role that the displacement of women and their voluntary or involuntary global journeys has had on the world stage.

“BREAKING SURFACE" -
August 13th, 2015
In 2015, I curated a photographic and moving image exhibit called Breaking Surface for Ca D'Oro Gallery in Chelsea, NYC. The exhibition showcased the work of six artists, myself included, and focused on the exploration of the two sides of a single threshold; the border between air, and water. Each work offered the viewer an opportunity to reflect on the complexity created by the curves, ground surface, and reflections of light that straddled both sides of the water's edge. Within this context, images ranged from abstract pieces to realistic images. On August 13th, 2015, Breaking Surface opening reception hosted 400 visitors and was favorably reviewed by several publications, such as:
• Huffington Post: “A must-see exhibition”
• Visionareworld: “The eerie quiet of being submerged is
palpable"
• ArtSlant: “Inspiring wonder”
• Art Palm Beach: “Don’t miss “Breaking Surface".
In 2015, the Spanish photography magazine Es Madrid No Madriz, published a six page
article (issue #37) about my work and my curatorial process for Breaking Surface.

In June 2016, Breaking Surface also travelled to Flatz Gallery, in Peekskill, New York. Here, I went through a second curatorial process for Breaking Surface 2.0, that featured eleven artists. This exhibit ran for two months and received recognition by the Peekskill Art Alliance.
