“Displacement 1”
The “Displacement” series was born due the Syrian exodus of the millions of people that fled their homes by sea in search of safety. This body of work is a metaphor intended to remind us of the strength of the human spirit; of our capacity to rise from the ashes.
Merging underwater photography and digital art, the parallel is the displacement of subjects. Originally photographed in an unpleasing underwater environment, into one that is pristine, open, peaceful, and ideal. Combining elements from two distinct underwater images, the result is one that tells the story of displacement and integration. It speaks to the ability we have to flourish within displacement regardless of circumstances.
